Ms. Swick-Brown is a member of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) and has represented Ohio on the IAFP Affiliate Council since 1991.  Ms. Swick-Brown was named the 1999 Sanitarian of the Year, an IAFP award given to outstanding sanitarians serving the public and food industry, and in 2008, was given the coveted Fellow Award. 


Gloria Swick-Brown, MSA, RS is a graduate of The Ohio State University holding a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, with majors in Animal Science, Biological Science, and Agricultural Education and earned a Master of Science in Administration degree with a concentration in Health Services from Central Michigan University.


Ms. Swick-Brown is an active member of the Ohio Association of Food and Environmental Sanitarians (OAFES), the Ohio Environmental Health Association, and the National Environmental Health Association holding credentials as a Nationally Registered Environmental Health Specialist and Registered Sanitarian.  Additionally, Ms. Swick-Brown is a Registered Veterinarian Technician by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Board.


Employed by the Ohio Department of Health, Ms. Swick-Brown is a Sanitarian Specialist in the Food Safety Program. Ms. Swick-Brown surveys the Food Service Operation Programs, evaluates the sanitarians, and conducts State Baseline Food Service Inspections.  Ms. Swick-Brown educates sanitarians in the field to perform food service inspections both correctly and thoroughly in 29 local health departments in southeastern Ohio.
