Welcome to Ohio, the "Buckeye State".

We want you, your families, and your friends to have a great time while you are in Ohio. Go on an adventure while you are here. There are some adventures just waiting to happen and we’ll help you get there.

The COTA buses run to the following locations. Adults are $1.50, children 7-12 are $.75, children under 6 are free if they are less than 48” tall. Most of the trips are direct routes. We will give addresses and driving directions to those with cars. There are also taxis and pedi-cabs for shorter destinations.

Saturday night, there is the Gallery Hop in the Short North, which is a self-guided walking tour. It’s not very far and you’ll have a great time browsing through the galleries, unique boutiques, and chatting with the artists. Amid the electrifying atmosphere, you’ll find restaurants to please every pallet, a winery, an ice cream shop, and a bead shop plus many more treasures. Visit www.shortnorth.org and www.theshortnorth.com. A visit to the Short North any day is an adventure.

Another adventure is a trip to the Franklin Park Conservatory. Go to www.fpconservatory.org. Currently, you’ll see the Blooms and Butterflies Display and the Chihuly Display. There are Pacific Island Gardens, a Himalayan Mountain room, a desert, and a rain forest. You can have lunch in the café.

The Ohio State Fair is one of the largest fairs in the United States and celebrates Ohio-made products and companies. Monday is Family Value Day until 6:00PM. Adults are $8.00, and children under 12 are free. With the purchase of 1 wristband, a second rider can ride free until 6:00 PM with a hand stamp. There are livestock exhibits, horse shows, produce displays, and judging for a variety of culinary and craft items. At 7:00 PM, Toby Mac Concert is at the Celeste Center. You can ride the bus or drive. Visit www.ohiostatefair.com.

On Monday evening, you can meet friends at the Ohio State Fair or you can go to the Columbus Clippers – Dime-a-Dog Night. Yes, hot dogs are 10 cents! Check out http://clippersbaseball.com. The Columbus Clippers (Washington Nationals) will play the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles) at the end of the era for the old Clipper Stadium.

You won’t want to miss to the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay Water Park. The Zoo bus only leaves 4 times per day: 8:10 AM, 9:40 AM, 2:40 PM, and 6:10 PM. To return, there are only 4 busses: 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 3:30 PM, and 7:00 PM. You can check out the fun at www.columbuszoo.com and http://zoombezibay.net. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, one of Ohio’s most visited attractions, is spread over 82 acres and houses over 6000 animals, the most famous of which is Colo, now 51 years old, the first gorilla ever to be born in captivity. Go “wild” at Zoombezi Bay, the Zoo’s new 22.7 acre waterpark.

Tuesday evening, you can visit the Arena District and the Short North for happy hour, tapas, dinner and walking tour.

Another adventure destination is COSI (Center of Science and Industry). Go to www.cosi.org. COSI (Center of Science and Industry) is a center where learning happens through interaction with the environment. Programs are hands-on and minds-on to inspire children and adults to relate their current knowledge to new information, thus building real understandings of our world. COSI is currently featuring a CSI exhibit and Sea Monsters 3D movie.

No visit to Central Ohio is complete without visiting The Ohio State University, founded in 1870. Today, the main campus in Columbus has 1,755 acres and the total of all OSU learning facilities throughout Ohio is 15, 311 acres. The Ohio State University is ranked among the top 20 public universities in the United States, but it ranks number 1 in the hearts of most Ohioans.

Other points of interest include German Village (www.germanvillage.org), Easton Town Center, an upscale mall with cutting edge fashion (www.eastontowncenter.com), and the J. C. Penney Outlet Center for a real shopping experience.

Directions and information to these locations and many more will be available at the Welcome table.

See you in Ohio!
