Dr. LeJeune received an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the Université de Moncton, in New Brunswick, Canada prior to completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Prince Edward Island, also in Canada. He worked for the Canadian Food Inspection Service as a veterinarian in Meat Hygiene for 2 years before to moving to Washington State where he was actively involved in research of pre-harvest control measures for E. coli O157 in cattle as a graduate student and Resident in the State animal disease diagnostic laboratory. After completing his PhD, he stayed on at Washington State University and worked as postdoctoral scientist studying the dissemination of antibiotic resistant bacteria among cattle operations. He joined the faculty of The Ohio State University in the Food Animal Health Research Program, within the Dept of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. His current research and outreach focuses on pre-harvest control of E. coli O157 and other foodborne pathogens
